Introduction
Partners in offering supports and services for individuals with developmental disabilities
- Lutheran Services in America Disability Network (LSA-DN) is a nationwide association of Lutheran social ministry organizations serving the needs of people with developmental disabilities and related conditions.
- LSA–DN includes 19 members which provide support to more than 21,000 individuals in 33 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Our members share many strengths and advantages, but the driving force that brings us together is our mission, providing a ministry of support which is responsive to the needs of those served.
- LSA–DN is a network associated with Lutheran Services in America (LSA).
- LSA is an alliance of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, and their affiliated and recognized social ministry organizations.
- Together, the social ministry organizations of LSA serve more than 6 million people each year … one out of every 50 in the United States and the Caribbean.

Values
Enduring values: founded in faith
Our roots are Lutheran with a strong emphasis on Gospel witness through service to God’s people regardless of religion, race, gender or creed. Our member organizations are well-established in their respective communities, tied to neighborhood congregations and have met local needs for more than a century.
National scope: local service
Together, we reach across country to share successes. Individually, we offer local and personal services within our communities.
Breadth of services
Our members share expertise in developing and providing high-quality, individualized support, including rehabilitation services, work programs, residential services, respite care and independent living. We respect the rights of those we support and help them make responsible choices.
Community boards of directors
Member organizations are accountable to volunteer board members–not stockholders–who work to ensure the member organizations meet individual and community needs.
A mutually supporting partnership
Our members have established partnerships with one another to link resources and skills in order to better serve our communities and constituents.
Reinvested in mission
Our non-profit organizations invest surplus revenue in service. We are not driven by profit, but by mission–to meet the health, spiritual and emotional needs of those served.

- People with developmental disabilities depend on Medicaid policy that provides adequate and equitable services based on individual needs.
- People with developmental disabilities depend on Medicaid policy that mandates flexible supports and regulations for integrated community living.
- All people with developmental disabilities must have access to Medicaid supports as needed.
- Medicaid policy must be coordinated with other vital supports and services.
